The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation held the 17th Annual Collaborating for a Cure Gala at Cipriani Wall Street on December 4th, 2014. The gala was hosted by Elin and Michael Nirenberg. Chris Wragge of CBS 2 News this Morning served as the Master of Ceremonies. The event honored fashion designers Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie of Cushnie et Ochs, and featured a special musical performance by six-time Grammy award winner Ziggy Marley. Since its inception in 1976, the Samuel Waxman Research Foundation has raised more than $85 million dollars which has been donated to over 200 researches worldwide. The Foundation is a pioneer in cancer research and their mission is to eradicate cancer by bridging the gap between lab science and the patient. The 17th Annual Gala had almost 800 attendees and raised $2.5 million dollars.
