Rihanna Stole, Edited Jeweler’s Patriotic Photo

Rihanna must have missed the memo on copyright.

The R&B singer saluted U.S. Troops by posting a lovely patriotic photograph to her Instagram and Twitter. Truth is, ownership of the photo belongs to Coronet Diamonds, who posted it to their website on Veterans Day. Rihanna mislead her followers into thinking it was an original photo by editing out the company’s hashtag – #coronet diamonds – and tastefully Photoshopped herself into the picture.

The jewelry company is taking advantage of the celebrity’s social media presence and fame to resolve the issue – it’s called free publicity.

Coronet Diamonds issued a cease and desist letter requiring the star to remove the image from social media. Rather than any type of cash settlement, the jewelry company is requesting an apology on social media from Rihanna, “an apology that makes it clear Coronet created the image,” reported TMZ.

With over 14 MILLION followers on Instagram and over 38 MILLION on Twitter, the apology won’t go overlooked.
