Broadway Gets Kinky, 50 Shades!

The color grey has been keeping females, and their lovers, on their toes since the popularity of E. L. James’ novel ’50 Shades of Grey” blew up internationally. Now Broadway has adapted the erotic words into a work of comedy. Upon entering the show you are immediately greeted by leather clad, incredibly attractive young men and a mercy table that slightly resembles an adult toy shop. Nothing was left out in order to make the theme as real as possible. Fans of the book or newly exposed audience members can all enjoy the witty adult musical singing from the use of sexual toys to housewife drama. The story starts when three women choose 50 Shades as their novel for their book club so you get to experience the story through their eyes as well as your own. The musical pokes fun at the overly charismatic heart throb Christian Grey with his solo “I Don’t Make Love” showing his lack of relationships and will to just have sex. Anastasia Steele also has a solo called “There’s a Hole Inside of Me” clearing meaning her lady parts, yet singing about the lack of passion in her life. Steele is shown as being hilariously clueless and Grey has a few different physical changes than the novel indicates. The cast takes the jokes to a whole new level, pushing audience members out of their comfort zones and into a new realm of sexual comedy. Get out your whips and ropes and go to the show either in New York at the Elektra Theatre or in LA at the Kirk Douglas Theatre.
